Employment Equity Committee Survey

Good Afternoon,

We want to take this opportunity, on Orange Shirt Day, to provide you with an update in relation to the collaborative work underway between CUPE local 441 and the Saanich School District.

The Employment Equity Committee formed following the recent round of bargaining (LOU No. 18 – Employment Equity). We came together to work in the spirit of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation to identify ways that we can address under representation of employees with Indigenous Ancestry (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) within the Saanich School District.

In order to support the work we currently have underway, we are hoping to gather additional information from our support staff members including:

  • The number of individuals who have received district based cultural competency training with Sheralyn Macrae;
  • Information you hope would be included in future cultural competency sessions; and
  • We are also hoping to better understand the number of staff members who currently identify as having Indigenous Ancestry.
